The way they hold and move it can show trust, caution, excitement or unease. Reading those signals helps you understand each other and strengthens the bond between you. When a cat walks towards you with their tail held high, often with a little curve or hook at the tip, they're showing you they're friendly and relaxed. This signal appears in nearly 98% of friendly cat-to-human meetings, but it rarely shows up between cats. Cats appear to have developed this greeting just for us, over the long time we've lived side by side. It's their way of saying they trust you and they're pleased to see you. Studies suggest that only about half of cat owners play with or interact with their cat every day, and daily contact is the kind of thing that brings out these friendly displays.
